Here, most people don't know how to speak English fluently. You might probably get in trouble and get lost in downtown if you can speak only English. So you better learn these useful BURMESE phrases before you get there. It's not that hard.
Burmese is the official language and it's spoken in the whole country among even in the ethnic groups like Shan, Kachin, Kayin, Chin, and Mon. Besides, Burmese people really that when some random foreigners tourists speak their mother language. They appreciate that and you'll get their good impressions.

Master these daily use phrases and make your journey way easier.

Greeting

Hello/Hi =Mingalaba

How do you do?/How's going?

=Nay kaung yae lar?

 Yes,I'm fine/I'm good

=Hoke kae,Nay kaung par dal

See you later= nout hma twae mal

My name is....

For male=Kya taw na mel ka top..... ba bya

For female= Kya ma na mel ka top.... ba shint

If you wanna agree with something or say yes

We use "hoke kae par" together with "bya" and "shint" to make it more polite.
