There are a lot of ethnic foods in Yangon: Kachin, Karen, Mon, Shan and many more. Among those, Shan food is the most popular food in Myanmar. If you would like to try Shan food, you shouldn’t miss to go to the Shan Restaurant, Lo Ta Ya. It was opened four years ago and got a lot of regular customers. They usually got good reviews from the customers. As I mentioned above, most of Myanmar people as well as tourists prefer Shan foods than other ethnic foods in Myanmar. I would like to recommend you to try Dry Shan noodle which is a kind of rice noodle salad served with minced meats & tomato sauce. It is most famous dishes among Shan cuisines. It is more common breakfast in the Shan state as well as in Mandalay. It is a simple recipe where chicken or pork cooked with tomatoes and served over a bed of rice noodles with some other ingredients. It can be served with broth (Soup Shan Noodle) or without broth (Dry Shan Noodle). When served the Dry Shan Noodle, the soup is usually served. Shan noodles from “Lo Ta Ya” are different from other restaurants and which are more delicious. Another popular menu might be Deep Fried Dried Shan Tofu (Tofu cracker) and you can enjoy this while you are waiting for your meals. There are 2 more outlets of Lo Ta Ya at Ahlone Township and Bogyoke Aung San Market North Wing. Catering is also available for any kinds of events.
