Thitaw Lay House is since January 2014 a family-run and family-size B&B. Guests will be warmly welcomed on the family compound in two bungalows (large traditional wooden structures with terrace and attached bathroom) and in one spacious wheelchair-friendly studio. The bird and the butterfly-friendly compound is situated at a 15-minutes-walk of Kalaw-center, in a rural and quiet area, bordering a monastery and a protected forest, with splendid and unspoiled views and with immediate access to trekking and hiking trails. The hosts are 24/24 available for your comfort. Focus is on Quality and that counts also for the homemade wood oven bakeries, jam, yogurt, ... All are part of the open-kitchen breakfast buffet, included in the room rate.

Fantastic historic hotel

I stayed at Thitaw Lay House for one night. I had a really good time. The location is great, right on the edge of historic Kalaw. There is always someone to greet you in the hotel, and offer any recommendations about the area. Everything was fantastic - great room/ambiance and delicious food. The room itself was great. I had access to a balcony, and had a great time hanging outside during the evening, taking in the sights and sounds of the downtown area at night. I would definitely stay here again during a future trip to Kalaw.
