2018-10-28edit Pam Yangon is one of the famous cities in Myanmar and there are many legendary places in Yangon which includes the Inya Lake. Inya Lake which is previously known as the Lake Victoria, indeed represents one of the identities of Yangon. Inya Lake is situated 10 kilometers (6 miles) north from the city center and is the largest lake in Yangon. Inya Lake is in fact a manmade lake created by the British between 1881 and 1883 as a water reservoir in order to provide water supply to the city. There are many myths and stories about the lake about the treasures and curses. Despite all those the Inya Lake takes place in the top recreational places in Yangon.
The Lake is bounded by Parami Road on the north, Pyay Road on the west, Inya Road on the southwest University Avenue on the south and Kabar Aye Pagoda Road on the east. However, the public access to the lake is through the Kabar Aye Pagoda Road near the Sedona Hotel and Myanmar plaza, the Pyay Road and the Inya Road next to the Yangon University. The other areas surrounding the Inya Lake is one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in Yangon including the residences of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, U Ne Win and the United States ambassador.
