Kandawgyi Lake is one of the most iconic places in Yangon. Dating back to the 18th century, when it was created to provide a clean water supply to the city during the British colonial administration. It’s since become one of the loveliest spots in town. The laid back scenery, world-class Karaweik palace, and beautiful green waters attract tourists from all over. What many people don’t know is that Kandawgyi has much more to offer than just that. Kandawgyi has a plethora of unique cafes, a lovely boardwalk that circles around the lake, wonderful places for photoshoots and picnics, a farmers market, and even an aquarium that is to open within the next year.
