Myanmar is one of the safest countries in South East Asian countries and the occurrences of crime for foreigners are extremely low in all the areas that foreigners are permitted to visit. But some parts of Myanmar still have some wars and conflicts so these areas is highly restricted to travel and you can see the checkpoints for identification purposes in some areas. Some places need the prior permission from the Ministry of Home Affairs and/or Ministry of Hotels & Tourism before you travel but there still have some places which are restricted to visit. That’s why I suggest you to check the places that you plan to visit before you go in these sites (www.tourism.gov.mm or www.mip.gov.mm).
