Transportation
2018-01-01edit Mon For going around the city, you can take taxi, buses or trains. For taxi service, “Grab” is the most popular taxi service application in Myanmar which shows the fixed price or you can call the pass-by taxi on the streets. Most of Taxis in Myanmar are not meter taxi so have to deal the price in advance before get in if you are using the pass-by taxi.
If you want to try to ride a bus, I recommend you use the “HappyGoGo” or “YBus: Yangon Bus” application if you are in Yangon. You can check the bus numbers, stops and routes in these applications which can make easy bus ride. The costs are 100 Kyats, 200 Kyats, 300 Kyats and 500 Kyats which differs upon the bus you take.
In Yangon, you can try circular train if you are interested in lifestyles but the trains are not quite convenience though.
For long distance travel, you can take a plane, high way bus, train or boat. The price range for the flight is between 50 USD to 160 USD for one way and most comfortable way to travel. You can take day or night buses which goes most of the destinations with affordable price and most convenience way to travel. The price range is around 6 USD to 40 USD for single trip and you can use the “BNF Express” or “Star Ticket” application to book the ticket online or buy at the travel agents or at the high way bus stations. The trains typically take much longer time than the buses and there are Ordinary class, First class, Upper class, Standard sleeper and Special Sleeper. The price range is from 4 USD to 35 USD for single journey. The boat services are still very limited and Mandalay to and from Bagan is the most popular route.
