Yangon Yangon, also known as Rangoon, is the biggest and main commercial city of the Myanmar. Before government change the capital to Nay-Pyi-Taw (central region of the Myanmar), Yangon was the capital of the country. Nowadays, Yangon is still source of jobs and network of offices. Tourists love to walk along the colonial buildings that are situated in the downtown area of Yangon. Shwedagon Pagoda, a landmark of the Myanmar, is also situated in Yangon. When tourists visit to Myanmar, most of them don’t forget to visit to Yangon. Modernized shopping malls are being opened nowadays. But Yangon Zoo that is old over 100 years old is still opened in Yangon. So, Yangon can be said kinds of art that mixed with modernized and ancient beauties.

History

Yangon Yangon was small village that is lived by fishermen families. They built the village by centering the Shwe Dagon Pagoda. Ancient Mon found Yangon as Dagon in the early year of 11 century. At the time, it is known as the part of Lower Burma. In 1772, King Alaungphaya renamed as Yangon (The meaning in Myanmar is the city that is passed over the danger). The British first captured Yangon in the First Anglo-Burmese War (1824-26) but returned it Burmese administration after the war.
